Gears of War Too Violent for Germany; Japan

It’s really no surprise that Gears of War 2 would be verboten in Deustchland, considering the original game shared the same fate. The game was deemed too violent for release in Germany, and it will not be seen on retail shelves anywhere. This verdict comes even with Microsoft’s Gears 2 family friendly mode. The most surprising part of this announcement is that the game has been banned in Japan, but no reason for the ban has been cited.

The first game wasn’t banned, but the second is. Microsoft has given no indication on why the game received a ban, and Japan isn’t coming forward either. Oh well. At least the rest of the world supports the COG army.
